I grew up in Whitby. My dad was a millwright at the plant in Oshawa; my mom taught grade three at Anderson. I got into houses helping my father re-shingle the roof one summer and never really stopped.

After university I worked for a large developer in downtown Toronto for eight years, doing project management on new builds and mid-rise condos. It taught me how the industry works, and it taught me the parts I didn't want to be in. The homes I liked best were the ones I'd drive past on the way home — the postwar bungalows in Whitby and Ajax, the century homes north of Danforth, the split-levels in the older Oshawa subdivisions.

I started Fair Priced Homes in 2020, quietly, with the intention of buying two or three houses a year and doing the work properly. My brother Michael handles the trades side — he's the reason nothing on our sites gets rushed.

Since then we've bought ten homes and renovated five of them. Two we still own as rentals, which we manage ourselves. The rest have gone to families who plan to stay.
